Heavy metal accumulation characteristics and adaptability of different petunia varieties planted on urban green space

摘要: Landscape plants through their ability of resistance and tolerance to heavy metals in soils can be chosen for the urban greenbelt. However, the study on absorption characteristics of heavy metals in the ornamental plants such as petunia (Petunia hybrida Vilm.) remains limited. Based on the wet ashing methods, the concentrations of Cu, Zn, Pb, As, Cd and Cr in different varieties of petunia were determined. The results indicated that different varieties exhibited different uptake characteristics of heavy metals. The Double Floribunda 'Hao Fang' had stronger capability on Zn, Pb, Cd and Cr among the three kinds of petunia varieties; the contents for Zn, Pb, Cd and Cr were 71.59, 10.21, 1.38 and 5.25 mg-kg~(-1), respectively. Their corresponding accumulation reached to 1100.45, 157.08, 21.19 and 80.68 ug, respectively. Single Floribunda'Fantasy' had higher uptake ability on CuandAs, with the contents of Cu 24.02 and As 0.76 mg-kgand the accumulation of Cu 435.21 and As 13.82 ug. The results may provide scientific basis for petunia arrangement in the urban greenbelt with different heavy metal contaminations.
